The continuous layer surfaces signals. The quarterly layer interprets them.What to Actually Build: The Research Infrastructure for a Funded TeamInfrastructure sounds expensive. It doesn't have to be.A segment map, updated quarterly. Document your actual customer segments based on behavior, not persona fiction. Revisit it every quarter because segments shift. Your early adopters from six months ago are a completely different profile than your current cohort. Build it in Notion, Airtable, wherever you document. Keep it somewhere everyone with a roadmap opinion can see it.A shared research repository. Not a folder of interview recordings nobody watches. A searchable, tagged repository where insights are linked to decisions. When your head of sales argues for a feature based on "what customers are asking for," the product team should be able to pull up the three interviews where that topic appeared and show whether it was a high-urgency recurring pain or a one-time request from your largest account.
